Women! Women! Women!

Yes! Today's all about women! I love it!

Thanks to Emily Pankhurst, 100 years ago today the Representation of the People Act was passed and gave 8.5 million women the right to vote. These women were over 30 and met a property qualification to vote! Men over 21 and men in the armed forces over 19 also had restrictions abolished, so they could vote too.

Even though Ms Pankhurst was imprisoned many times, this didn't stop her fighting for the cause of women via the Women's Social and Political Union she started up.

So, all you girlies out there - read up on Emily Pankhurst, remember how strong we are! Although, we still have to fight for our rights with regard to equal pay and treatment in comparison to our male counterparts - we can do it and we WILL get there!
